1. Within the program, are close relatives (parents, spouses, children) of doctors attended to?
No, for now, it is a program directed solely to registered, practising, doctors, i.e., not retired or infirm.

2. Are pathologies of an organic nature, such as cancer or dementias, treated?
Within the PAIMM, only mental and/or addictive problems are addressed.

3. If the program is confidential, why must I give my real name?
The real name is necessary to confirm that the patient is really a registered physician. Once one enters the treatment phase of the program, one will do so with the fictitious name. The professionals who are in charge of the case and who change the names are subject to the most absolute confidentiality.

4. Is it all right for me to be accompanied to my appointments?
The decision to come to an appointment accompanied or alone is exclusively the patient’s.

5. What do I have to take with me when I’m admitted to the In-patient Treatment Unit?
Our Head Nurse will inform you as to the clothes, toiletries, and so on that you may need during your stay in our centre.

6. Can I have my mobile phone with me while I am in the Unit?
During the first 48 hours, a period that can vary depending on the pathology and the state of the patient, the use of mobile phones is restricted as is that of the telephone booth situated in the common-room.

7. How long will the hospitalisation phase last?
It is not possible, a priori, to determine the duration of the hospitalisation. Once you have been examined by our medical team, it will be possible for the consultant to give you an estimate of the duration of your stay

As a rule, straight-forward detoxifications take about 15 to 20 days. However, admissions for other reasons can run to 20 days or more.

8. Can I receive visits while I am in the In-patient Unit?
During the first 48-72 hours, depending on the reason for admission, visits are restricted.
There are visiting hours during which you may receive visits from close relatives or a friend in the common-room, as long as care is taken to maintain confidentiality in all its aspects.

9. How much will all this cost?
The services of the PAIMM are free to the doctors of Catalonia and to those other doctors who belong to professional bodies, to Autonomous Communities or other institutions that undertake to pay for their treatment and with whom the PAIMM has established collaboration agreements.
